THE COINS OF ZODIAC
The ram, the bull, the heavenly twins,
And next the crab, the lion shines,
The virgin and the scales,
The scorpion, archer, and the goat,
The man who holds the watering-pot,
And the fish with glittering scales.
The Coins of Zodiac date from a time unknown to mortal beings. All that is known is the fact Zodiac used to be a powerful Otherworld Entity who broke his power into 12 pieces and binding them into 12 coins, each made of a different material. The true purpose and power of The Coins is unknown. Ever since they where discovered by a scholar of lost cultures numerous people have tried to get The Coins in their possesion. Some to bring faith and balance to the world, some for greed and lust for power, but not a single person has ever managed to gain all 12 Coins because the scholar who reckognised their power has hidden each of them in a different place and has since dissapeared.
The shape of each Coin is more or less identical. Each is made of a different material and has the size of a fist. One side of a Coin has a symbol of it's Zodiac sign, and the other side strangely has a hole in it. The hole is round shaped, placed in the middle of The Coin, and can be seen through even though the other side is flat and has no hole in it. It is as if the Coins are supposed to be placed on something very specific.
Each of these coins requiers two rituals completed before they can bond with their owner. Whenever an owner is changed, the new owner must complete the same two rituals before he or she can use the power of the coins. These rituals change over time and the details on how to preform them were lost over the years.
Aries – The Ram
Material: Diamond
The user of The Stubborn Ram becomes enlightened twice per day as a standard action(or more colorful description Stubborn as a Ram) and can not be a victim of Illusions or Mind Control (does not allow the user usage or controle of the abilities, only immunity). It also gives the power of an Exceptional Sight once per day for one minute per level, revealing Traps and Hidden Doors when the user is withing range of them. The user also gains the ability to Summon Mythical Zodiac Ram to do his bidding for 2 hours. Once summoned, the creature cannot be summoned again for 24 hours.
Taurus – The Bull
Material: Ruby
The Furious Bull grants +5% damage reduction from Fire and Magma based attacks (both physical and magic). If combined with other Elemental Coins the damage percent increases by an aditional 5%. The user also gains the ability to Summon Mythical Zodiac Bull to do his bidding for 2 hours. Once summoned, the creature cannot be summoned again for 24 hours.
Gemini – The Twins
Material: Pearl
The Bonded Twins have the power to shift between two locations. The user of Gemini gains power to teleport from one sigil to another as if he was using Dimensional Door spell. This power can be used only once every 24 hours. The Coin also allowes the user to make a Bond with 1 person or creature once per day, forcing the being to tell only the truth for 1 hour. The Bond is a single target spell and can only be used once per day.
Cancer – The Crab
Material: Amethyst
The Wise Crab grants the wearer +4 bonus on Inteligence, Wisdom and Willsave scores. The user also gains the ability to Summon Mythical Zodiac Crab to do his bidding for 2 hours. Once summoned, the creature cannot be summoned again for 24 hours.
Leo – The Lion:
Material: Topaz
The Powerful Lion grats the wearer +4 bonus on Strength and Charisma scores. Also wearer's appearance change, making his/her body look tougher, giving him/her +5 bonus on intimidate checks. The user also gains the ability to Summon Mythical Zodiac Lion to do his bidding for 2 hours. Once summoned, the creature cannot be summoned again for 24 hours.
Virgo – The Maiden
Material: Sapphire
The user of The Innocent Maiden powers are to manipulate persons of the opposite sex (+10 on roll checks, and if used for evil purposes user's aligment will slowly shift toward evil), and to soothe the hearts, taking away their doubts and fears, giving them relief (removes debuffs). If it is used on a creature of evil aligment (with at least 3 Int score), the creature will enter in a self-reflection state for 2 rounds. (This power is replenished every day at noon, and charm can be used only by people of good).
Libra – The Scales
Material: Jasper
The Enigmatic Scales despise gravity and therefore alow the user to change his weight at will (lowest point being 0 kg, up to the highest weight possible of 1000 tons).
Also The Scales prevent the user from losing balance therefore making it imposible to knock him down or make him dizzy or drop his weapons.
Scorpio – The Scorpion
Material: Emerald
The Spicy Scorpion grants the user +5% damage reduction from Earth and Nature based attacks (both physical and magic). If combined with other Elemental Coins the damage percent increases by an aditional 5%. The user also gains the ability to Summon Mythical Zodiac Scorpion to do his bidding for 2 hours. Once summoned, the creature cannot be summoned again for 24 hours.
Sagittarius – The Archer
Material: Onyx
The Cunning Archer grants the wearer +4 bonus on Dexterity and Reflex scores. Also it allows to fire mythical missiles from ranged weapons without using any ammo (counts as magic damage).
Capricorn – The Goat
Material: Opal
The Brilliant Goat user gains +5% damage reduction from Air and Lightning based attacks (both physical and magic). If combined with other Elemental Coins the damage percent increases by an aditional 5%. The user also gains the ability to Summon Mythical Zodiac Goat to do his bidding for 2 hours. Once summoned, the creature cannot be summoned again for 24 hours.
Aquarius – The Water Bearer
Material: Mythril
The wearer of the coin of the Wonderful Water Bearer has power to summon up to 10d10 gallons of water (once per day), underwater breathing and he can also walk on water as if using the Water Walk spell. It can also conjure a small cloud to make the user float.
Pisces – The Fish
Material: Obsidian
The user of The Secretive Fish gains +5% damage reduction from Water and Ice based attacks (both physical and magic). If combined with other Elemental Coins the damage percent increases by an aditional 5%. The user also gains the ability to Summon Mythical Zodiac Fish to do his bidding for 2 hours. Once summoned, the creature cannot be summoned again for 24 hours.
TRIVIA:
Trivia 1: The last user of the Libra Zodiac Coin died from overusing it's power and crumbling into the ground discovering the maximum weight allowed.
Trivia 2: The user before him died from experimenting The Coins lower limit going into negative weight and float into the Sun.
Trivia 3: The Summoning of the Mythical Zodiac Beasts does not consume an action, and the summoned creatures can not attack. Their ultimate purpose is still unknown.
Trivia 4: The percentage bonus of the elemental Coin abilities stacks by 5% for each aditional elemental Coin in possesion. (1 Coin = 5% reduction, 2 Coins = 10%, 3 Coins = 15%, 4 Coins = 20%)
Trivia 5: The Twins Coin has a „negative“ effect preventing the user from telling lies at all times.
Trivia 6: It is suspected by a handful of tomb raiders, artefact hunters, collectors and thieves of ancient relics that there is an aditional 13th Coin which connects the other 12 in a unique way. This rumor has never been proven and there is no known evidence if The 13th Coin of Zodiac to exists or even if it does, it's purpose is an enigma.
Trivia 7: The coins which grant ability bonuses do not stack with other items which grant the same bonuses.
